Trauma changes everything!

It affects how the brain develops which includes memory, emotions, and development as we are living in the “fear brain.” Trauma affects how our body grows and develops; it has effects on our biology which impacts how our senses develop as well as genetic expression. Trauma affects our belief system, how we view ourselves. A great deal of this trauma is also represented and expressed in our behavior. “Behavior is the language of children who have lost their voice.” (Karyn Purvis).

Complex trauma impacts so much that traditional methods of parenting, teaching, and interacting often do not work. However, there are specific interventions and approaches, known as trauma-informed care, which can change a child’s life.

Healing from trauma is a journey. This journey toward healing for children who come for a difficult history of abuse, neglect and loss can be challenging.

Trauma Competent Care Giver Training is based on seven essential skills that form the foundation for helping children heal from their trauma.
